London gardens have their own special requirements: re-designing a small, shady urban garden to maximise its potential is our most common garden design challenge, and Ginkgo’s garden designers have created a host of beautiful small London gardens for these clients, with plant choice playing a vital part. Whether in shrubs, flowers or trees for your garden, our experience with plants goes back over twenty years and many of the plants we sell are grown at our own nursery in Ditton, Surrey.

As well as looking beautiful, plants have a practical role to play in the London garden: plants can work together with architecture as abstract elements of a garden design; and they can be planted as part of an exterior security system – e.g. climbers, if used correctly can be an excellent deterrent to intruders.

Our own ‘Ditton Gold’ compost is produced at our Ditton nursery, using recycled garden waste from the London gardens which we design and maintain. We use the resulting compost to grow plants at the nursery, which we sell in our London Garden Centre – a truly satisfying natural cycle!
