THE BIRD STORY

With the trains rumbling over our heads and regular visits from a garden robin, we love our new home in the railway arch at Ginkgo. The high brick arch is the perfect setting for our furniture and interesting pieces for the home and part of the fun for us is finding ways to display our stock. An Ercol table sits beside a stack of metal filing boxes from a car factory, a vintage French bottle rack stands next to a housekeeper’s cupboard from Harrogate and gorgeous pastel mixing bowls rest on shelving made from old greengrocer’s crates. Retro, vintage, industrial, a bit of 50s glamour, some retro camping cool, everything in the shop is bought because we love it and it taps into our enjoyment of using and owning things that have history and character. Well made, original and rare… it’s a birdy thing.
